There are several clues to help you detect these and most other forged triangles. First, look at the colour. All original raised pink triangles are made of pink clay; the pink colour is throughout the body of the triangle. No authentic factory-made pink triangles old or new are painted. Letters in genuine triangles are impressed to almost exactly the same depth. The depth to which letters are impressed on most new triangles can vary greatly.

1) Piece’s marked with ã copyright mark or â registered mark are from 31 December 1992 to present.

2) Piece’s marked Czech Republic cannot be older than 31 December 1992.

3) piece’s with the gold foil sticker with the letter D in the centre is also from the 1990’s. I have recently learned that there is a recent foil sticker dated from 1990's, and a older sticker which is not yet known how old?. I have information on this in Czech but need to translate hopefully this information will be available on the website soon.

4) Pieces marked ‘MADE IN CZECHOSLAVAKIA’ can not date before October 1918. Czechoslavakia was created at the end of WW1, ca 1918-1919.

5) Pieces with a D impressed in the pink triangle cannot date any earlier than 1951.

6) ‘MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA’ or a D impressed in the pink triangle are not guarantees of age. Both of those markings have been used in the 1990’s and continue to be in use as of 2001.

7) Generally, pieces with a letter E impressed in a raised pink triangle with no marks other than a mould number or decorators marks, are very likely to be made before 1919. Pink triangles on these pieces are generally bisque.

8) Pieces with E impressed in a raised pink triangle and also marked ‘Made in Czechoslavakia’ impressed, not backstamped, most likely date between the world wars, 1919-1939.

9) Pieces with a D impressed in a raised pink triangle with ‘Made in Czechoslovakia’ applied as either a transfer or ink stamp, need to be examined very, very carefully. Although ‘Made in czechoslavakia’ was first used ca. 1919-1939, that same mark is again being applied with decals and stamps on new pieces made since 1990’s.

10) Made in Czechoslovakia would not be used between the dates 1939-1945 due to World War 2.

There are not many fakes out there there are mostly reproductions and this is where people get confused, thinking they have purchased a piece which dates pre 1918 but really it dates between 1918 and 1992.
